British intelligence named the city around which Russians achieved significant tactical successes.

Russian troops are approaching the city of Vuhledar
According to British intelligence, Russian troops have achieved significant tactical successes near Vuhledar and can now pose a threat to this city. Intelligence emphasizes that Russian occupiers have long been trying to capture Vuhledar, as it would open their way to the south of Donetsk region.
Until now, all attacks ended with significant human losses and without major territorial achievements.
However, in August 2024, Russian troops managed to advance east and west of Vuhledar, capturing the adjacent villages of Prechystivka and Vodiane. It is likely that next month Russia will continue its attempts to encircle Vuhledar and threaten the city itself.
Also, according to analysts, Russian troops have recently advanced southeast of Pokrovsk and may have captured the village of Halytsynivka.
The Pokrovsk direction is the hottest on the front, with heavy fighting ongoing. Deputy commander of the 3rd Assault Brigade Maksym Zhorin forecasts serious consequences for Ukraine in case of losing Pokrovsk.
Russian occupiers were also able to advance north of Chasiv Yar, including eastern Hryhorivka.
According to the forecast of The Telegraph newspaper, Russian troops are actively continuing their advance towards Pokrovsk and may reach the city by mid-September, although a complete capture will not be possible.
