Expert explained why power outages in winter can last up to 16 hours a day.
According to the director of the Energy Research Center, Oleksandr Kharchenko, power outages in winter remain relevant, but the duration of these outages will depend on the weather and the restoration of infrastructure. This was reported by the EP website.
The expert notes that stabilizing the energy system will take up to four weeks if no new attacks occur. He anticipates that the situation will gradually improve in the coming days, which may lead to a reduction in the outage schedule to two phases.
If the energy networks are successfully restored, short-term technical breaks lasting 2-4 hours a day are expected in winter. However, under difficult weather conditions or with the emergence of new damages, the duration of outages may increase to 12-16 hours daily.
Kharchenko also reassured the public, expressing confidence that the risk of large-scale power outages is minimal: 'I do not see any real grounds for expecting a cascading national emergency.'
It is also worth noting that the electricity outage schedules change several times a day.
