The General of the Rocket Forces Explained Whether the Armed Forces of Ukraine Will Shoot Down Missiles with Nuclear Warheads.

Ukrainian military must shoot down all enemy missiles
According to General Mykola Filatov, Ukrainian military must unhesitatingly shoot down all missiles flying towards the country, regardless of whether they have nuclear warheads or not. Many of the ballistic missiles that Russia uses against Ukraine may carry nuclear warheads. However, Ukrainian air defense systems successfully shoot down even such complex targets as hypersonic missiles.
When shooting down short- and medium-range missiles, theoretically, the warhead should not explode. It depends on where it hits. If it hits the engine and it gets damaged - that's one situation, meaning the missile, theoretically, will fall and there will be no explosion...
The general explained that if a missile with a nuclear warhead is shot down, possible consequences include radiation contamination of the area where fragments of nuclear material fall. However, this is not comparable to the consequences of a nuclear explosion.
Russian Threats and Ukraine's Response
At the beginning of May, Russian propaganda media attempted to scare Ukrainians with reports that President Putin ordered targets in Kyiv to be designated for a strike.
In light of such threats, it is crucial for the Ukrainian military to be prepared and capable of effectively responding to any hostile actions threatening the country. This underscores the necessity of continuous improvement of military equipment and training of military units.
