The Ukrainian team will boycott the 2025 World Judo Championship
The 2025 World Judo Championship will take place in Budapest (Hungary) from June 13 to 20. The decision to boycott was made by the Judo Federation of Ukraine after the International Judo Federation (IJF) allowed Belarus to compete under its state symbolism.
The Judo Federation of Ukraine in its statement regarding the boycott refers to the order of the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine from July 2023, which prohibits Ukrainians from competing in the same tournaments with athletes from Russia and Belarus if they officially represent their countries.
The Ukrainian national team is boycotting the World Judo Championship for the second Time due to the admission of Russia and Belarus to competitions under neutral status.
It is worth noting that the IJF has allowed war supporters from Russia to participate in competitions for several years.
