IOC responded to the decision of the International Judo Federation regarding Belarusian athletes
The International Olympic Committee expressed its position on the admission of Belarusian athletes to compete in judo tournaments under the national symbols. IOC reacted to the decision of the International Judo Federation (IJF) to allow athletes from Belarus to participate in competitions under the state flag and anthem of the country starting June 1.
Glavkom reached out to the IOC with questions regarding the organization’s stance on this situation, but in response received the answer that each International Federation independently makes decisions about the participation of participants in international competitions.
The Judo Federation of Ukraine decided to boycott the 2025 World Judo Championship in protest. This will be the second Time that Ukraine will not participate in the world championship for this reason.
After the decision of the International Judo Federation to allow Belarusian athletes to participate in competitions under national symbols, the IOC emphasized that this decision is made independently by each federation. For its part, the Judo Federation of Ukraine decided not to participate in the 2025 World Championship as a demonstration of protest.Read also
