The Ministry of Health counted the number of e-prescriptions for medications for mental disorders.

Statistics on the issuance of electronic prescriptions by Ukrainian doctors
In the first four months of 2025, Ukrainian doctors issued 147,183 electronic prescriptions for medications to treat mental disorders, behavioral issues, and epilepsy under the 'Affordable Medicines' reimbursement program. According to the Ministry of Health, this is almost half of the figure for the entire year of 2024 (219,000).
85% of them – 125,069 – were redeemed (the figure for 2024 was 86%), which means that almost 9 out of 10 patients, upon receiving a prescription, used it at the pharmacy. This indicates real demand for these medications.
Relevance and expansion of the list of available medications
Currently, within the framework of 'Mental and Behavioral Disorders, Epilepsy', 20 international non-proprietary names (INNs) of medications are available, covering 132 trade names. These medications are used to treat schizophrenia, anxiety disorders, depression, epilepsy, and other diseases at the outpatient stage. The program is constantly being updated, adding new medications to the list according to patient needs and clinical standards.
In particular, last year 10 new INNs were added, including modern antidepressants, new-generation antipsychotics, anticonvulsants, and other essential drugs.
Effectiveness of the 'Affordable Medicines' program
Every day, about a thousand patients receive the necessary treatment through the 'Affordable Medicines' program, which helps them stabilize their condition, reduce symptoms, and improve their quality of life and social activity. This is significant support for people with various diagnoses seeking assistance in treatment.
Analyzing the above information, one can conclude that the 'Affordable Medicines' program in Ukraine is indeed felt by patients and meets their needs in treating mental and behavioral disorders. The constant updating of the list of available medications contributes to providing modern treatment options, enhancing the quality of medical care.
