On June 9, the prisoner exchange began, and the first group to return home consisted of younger servicemen. Among them were representatives from various military units, as well as defenders of Mariupol, who spent more than three years in captivity.
The exchange is only the first part of a large-scale process that includes severely wounded and seriously ill captives. The final numbers of those released will be known later for security reasons. Moreover, work is ongoing to return the bodies of fallen soldiers.
Ukraine continues the process of prisoner exchanges, starting with younger servicemen and defenders who have been in captivity for an extended period. We await additional information regarding the number of released individuals and the next stages of this humanitarian initiative.
