Border Guard Betrayed Ukraine but Could Not Explain Why.

Ukrainian border guard Igor Kataev was sentenced to 15 years in prison for passing information about the location of facilities and personnel to the enemy, as well as for disclosing state secrets regarding border protection. Kataev himself reported this in an interview with Volodymyrzolkin.
Igor Kataev was born and lived in the Luhansk region, in the city of Bilovodsk. He joined the State Border Guard Service in 2020. Kataev served as a senior sergeant and head of the situation monitoring department. He admitted that he supports and will continue to support Russia. However, when asked why he did not move to Russia, but instead stayed in Ukraine and became a border guard, he did not answer.
“It just happened, I can’t explain it to you,” said Igor Kataev.
The family of Igor Kataev lives in the occupied territory. He has completed the necessary documents for exchange and is now waiting for the Russians to pick him up.
