Rutte voiced the scenario of a simultaneous NATO war with China and Russia.

NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte expressed serious concern over potential cooperation between Russia and China in future conflicts. In an interview with the American publication The New York Times, he emphasized that Beijing could use Moscow to distract the West from the situation in the Asia-Pacific region, particularly in the event of a possible takeover of Taiwan.
Rutte warned about the need to protect U.S. interests in Asia, as Western security is closely linked to European security. He stressed that cooperation between Russia and China could have serious consequences for global security.
'If Xi Jinping were to attack Taiwan, he would first call his junior partner in all this, Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, who resides in Moscow, and say to him: 'Hey, I am going to do this, and I need you to keep them busy in Europe, attacking NATO territory,'Rutte is quoted as saying.
The NATO Secretary General highlighted the importance of making any aggression against NATO risky for the Kremlin, and also emphasized that cooperation with the Indo-Pacific region could help deter Russia and China. Rutte called for preventing a possible conflict through joint actions with Eastern partners.
