How many people in Ukraine are officially missing: Ministry of Internal Affairs announced the number.


According to Leonid Tymchenko, currently, 55 thousand people are listed in the Unified Register of Missing Persons under special circumstances. He noted that most of them are military personnel, and this number is variable. In some cases, when the whereabouts of missing persons are identified, it turns out that they are in captivity or have died.
The National Police collected DNA profiles of 751 families, whose relatives are missing and located abroad. Among these families, they managed to find their relatives among bodies previously considered unidentifiable, amounting to 107.
DNA profile collection was conducted in Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Germany, Spain, Italy, and Turkey, and it is also planned to be organized in Switzerland.
Additionally, the Ukrainian Ministry of Reintegration announced the launch of an app that will help find missing persons and kidnapped children. It is especially relevant during wartime and its main function is the search for military personnel, children, and the reunification of families who are internally displaced, left Ukraine, or were illegally deported to Russia or Belarus.
