Fines for violations of gas usage rules in Ukraine
Ukrainian gas consumers may face substantial fines for violating the rules of using gas appliances and meters. According to 'PMG', sanctions may be applied in various cases: for unauthorized interference with the operation of meters, exceeding the established capacity of gas appliances, unauthorized replacement of boilers and other violations.
One of the most common violations is exceeding the capacity of installed gas appliances. This occurs when a consumer replaces a gas boiler with a more powerful one or installs additional gas appliances in their home without proper approval.
'In the case of exceeding the range of a gas meter, the consumer is obliged to compensate for the volume of unrecorded gas,' experts explain.
The size of the fines varies significantly depending on the nature of the violation - from several thousand to over 100 thousand hryvnias. It is important for consumers to be aware of the potential consequences of non-compliance with established rules.
Example of exceeding capacity
For example, if a household has a heating area of 100 square meters, a dual-circuit gas boiler, and a gas stove, the fine for exceeding the capacity of the appliances may reach about 40,000 hryvnias. The exact amount of the fine in each specific case will be determined by a representative of the gas distribution network operator after an appropriate inspection.
