Political scandal: Trump proposes to relocate Palestinians from Gaza to Egypt and Jordan
Former President Donald Trump suggested relocating Palestinians from the Gaza Strip to Egypt and Jordan in order to 'clean up' this territory. He made this statement to reporters aboard Air Force One on Saturday.
According to Axios, Trump spoke on the phone with King Abdullah of Jordan, who congratulated him on his inauguration. During the conversation, the American president mentioned the Palestinians living in Jordan and proposed that the country accept a larger number of Palestinians from Gaza.
'I told him I would like you to take more because I'm looking at the entire Gaza Strip right now, and it's a mess. It's a real mess,' the publication quotes Trump's words.
The president also announced plans to discuss with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi the possibility of accepting Palestinians from Gaza. 'This concerns one and a half million people, and we will just clean up this entire area,' Trump stated.
According to Axios, relocating Palestinians to Egypt poses a threat to national security. At the beginning of the conflict, when Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu expressed this idea, Sisi emphasized that such a decision would jeopardize the peace treaty between Israel and Egypt.
It should be noted that Zelensky has already expressed his opinion regarding Trump's intentions concerning the conflict.
