The Ministry of Social Policy of Ukraine and the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) have signed a Memorandum of Cooperation in the field of humanitarian support for affected citizens. According to the agreement, UNHCR will provide the Ministry with humanitarian assistance for the most vulnerable categories of Ukrainians, including family-type children's homes.
We have taken another step towards deeper and more systematic cooperation with UNHCR. We thank our partners for their support. This helps us not only to respond to the challenges of war but to build an environment where every person, including children, elderly people, and persons with disabilities can live in safety and with dignity.According to the Memorandum, UNHCR will deliver humanitarian assistance to three regional warehouses in Ukraine, including the Cherkasy, Poltava, and Lviv regions. The cargo will include blankets, sleeping bags, bedding, mattresses, hygiene kits, and other essential items.
The transfer of this assistance is evidence of our sustainable partnership with the Ministry of Social Policy aimed at ensuring that people who have become most vulnerable due to Russia's full-scale invasion receive timely support to meet their basic needs with dignity and are not left alone with their misery. The distribution of humanitarian aid will be coordinated by the Ministry through regional social protection departments and support centers for internally displaced persons and other vulnerable population groups. The agreement between the parties is set for three years with the possibility of extension.
Previously, UNHCR and the Ministry collaborated in providing cash assistance and renovating sanatoriums for internally displaced persons in Poltava and Lviv regions.
