Surveillance cameras caught the suspect in the bombing in downtown Cologne, Germany. A large-scale police operation at the site of the explosion is ongoing. This is reported by Welt.
According to the report, the explosion occurred on Hohenzollernring road. It also became known that the suspected bomber was caught on surveillance cameras.
On Monday morning, an explosion occurred in downtown Cologne. The entrance part of the building is significantly damaged. The police are now searching for a man suspected of the bombing. There are «police surveillance footage recordings».
Initially, it was reported that there were no casualties. But according to the police, a 53-year-old man was slightly injured in the explosion. The newspaper Bild also reports that a cleaner from the establishment is in the hospital with blast injuries.
According to WDR, the explosive device detonated shortly after six in the morning near the Vanity nightclub on Hohenzollernring. It is noted that in the entrance part of the building, ceiling tiles fell and windows shattered. According to Bild, the building owner estimated the damage at «100 thousand euros».
In the surveillance camera video initially reported by «Express», the entrance part of the building is visible. It shows a person in a hoodie placing a bag in front of the entrance. Then the explosion occurs. No accomplices are visible in the video.
Recall that in the center of the German city of Cologne (federal state North Rhine-Westphalia, – «Glavkom») an explosion occurred. This is reported by the publication Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger. According to the media, the area of the incident is currently completely cordoned off by law enforcement officers. The incident occurred between Rudolfplatz square and Ehrenstrasse street. The police are urging citizens to avoid the area of the incident.
