The war of the Russian Federation against Ukraine has demonstrated the need for accelerated change in global institutions — expert.

The expert of the Center for International Studies at Odesa National University I. Mechnikov, Denys Kuzmin, noted that the military events between Russia and Ukraine require an immediate reform of global institutions. There have long been discussions about the necessity of reforms in the UN, NATO, and the EU, however, the current system of international relations has become obsolete and has not yet been replaced with a new one that reflects modern reality. Under current conditions, existing institutions face difficulties. If the aggressor country is a permanent member of the UN Security Council, then the system does not function effectively. It is impossible to cancel international rules; they need to be adapted to modernity and adhered to. The military actions of the Russian Federation against Ukraine have shown the need for rapid changes, particularly in the European Union. The EU must adapt to new realities and change the complex mechanism of consensus. European civilization must unite, otherwise uncontrollable degradation threatens. Ukraine is a test for Europe.
