According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, as of the morning of October 5, 2024, Russia has suffered significant losses in the war with Ukraine.

As of October 5, Russia has lost the following:
- personnel – about 659,220 (+1280) people,
- tanks – 8,916 (+8) units,
- armored combat vehicles – 17,658 (+31) units,
- artillery systems – 19,037 (+72) units,
- MLRS – 1,216 (+4) units,
- air defense systems – 970 (+5) units,
- aircraft – 368 (+0) units,
- helicopters – 328 (+0) units,
- UAVs of operational-tactical level – 16,529 (+35) units,
- cruise missiles – 2,613 (+0) units,
- ships / boats – 28 (+0) units,
- submarines – 1 (+0) units,
- automotive equipment and fuel trucks – 25,905 (+85) units,
- special equipment – 3,344 (+11) units.

Occupant fleet activity as of October 5
- There is one enemy ship registered in the Black Sea, carrying Kalibr cruise missiles (up to 4 missiles);
- There are no enemy ships in the Sea of Azov;
- There are three enemy ships registered in the Mediterranean Sea, two of which are carriers of Kalibr cruise missiles (up to 20 missiles).
Over the past day, in Russia's interests, passed through the Kerch Strait:
- 10 ships to the Black Sea, 8 of which continued towards the Bosphorus;
- 5 ships to the Sea of Azov, one of which was moving from the Bosphorus.
Russia continues to violate the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS), disabling automatic identification systems (AIS).
The 955th day of the full-scale war in Ukraine is currently underway.
It is worth noting that Ukrainian forces successfully conducted an operation near Lyptsi in the Kharkiv region, capturing seven enemy positions. However, the situation on the front remains difficult, as the Russian occupiers continue offensive actions and make certain advances in eastern Ukraine.
