Import Ban: Syria Breaks Trade Ties with Russia.


The interim government of Syria has announced a complete ban on the import of goods produced in the Russian Federation, Iran, and Israel.
According to Al Arabiya, after the new government came to power in Syria, there has been a significant influx of imported goods in the market. Stores in the capital Damascus are now offering a variety of products that had long been absent here - from Turkish mineral water and Saudi food products to western chocolate bars 'Snickers' and carbonated drinks 'Pepsi', reports UNIAN.
The new authorities have made a decision favorable for economic recovery by increasing the ability to use the dollar and reducing customs duties by 50-60%.
The new government explained this policy as a desire to simplify the import of raw materials to support local producers and stimulate the industry.
